Schauplatz Eisenbahn ChemnitzChemnitz-HilbersdorfHartmann’s parlour ...The collection of the Sächsisches Eisenbahnmuseum Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf comprises 15 steam locomotives. Some of them were built at the Chemnitz Engineering Works, founded by Richard Hartmann. Our Museum welcomes anyone interested in railways and technology from Tuesday to Sunday. You may explore all areas of the museum complex, with engine blocks that have been cut up and a historic boiler smithy. Every year, a highlight for families in our calendar of events is the steam loco festival, “Heizhaustage” (heating house days), featuring several guest locomotives and special trains. featuring a rope-and-pulley shunting system, which is unique in Europe ...The "Technikmuseum Seilablaufanlage" (rope-and-pulley shunting system), located at the historic shunting station of Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf, displays what is probably the only still existing shunting system for splitting up goods trains without using locomotives. The association has restored Signal box 3, which houses, among others, the control system for the rope-and-pulley shunting system. Together with a part of the restored rail track, this allows us to demonstrate to visitors two shunting operations, using the original technical equipment. In addition, the museum includes the restored rope-tensioning system, the machine house featuring the complete extant engines to drive the shunting system, the Ward Leonard control system to generate a direct current (DC), as well as a complex of signal bridges. The impressive gantry-style signal tower houses an exhibition on the Chemnitz railway junction, a functional model of the rope-and-pulley shunting system in Gauge 1 and the Archive of Hartmann locomotives. Moreover, visitors will find HO-scale model locomotives and operational documents concerning steam-driven, diesel-driven and electric locomotives. On viewing days, visitors can even ride on our open track motor car, the SKL "Schöneweide", running on a track of 600 meters (about 0.37 miles) from Signal box 3 to the Machine house. In the years to come, a signal garden and further objects to demonstrate the track and superstructure will be installed in the outside area. As a special recognition of their work, the association was awarded the "Deutscher Preis für Denkmalschutz" (German prize for monumental protection) in 2014. Every first Saturday of each month from April to October, the association invites all technology and railway enthusiasts to experience this fascinating technology.detailed information can be found on the website at: https://www.sem-chemnitz.de/category/aktuelles/ ![]() Vehicles Saxon Railway Museum Chemnitz-HilbersdorfSteam locomotives Baureihe 50.35 Hersteller Krupp, Essen Hersteller Maschinenfabrik Esslingen Baureihe 52.80 Hersteller Jung, Jungenthal, als Kriegslok 52 3311 Diesel locomotives Baureihe V 100 Hersteller VEB Lokomotivbau Elektrotechnische Werke (LEW) „Hans Beimler“ in Hennigsdorf Baureihe V 180 / 118 Hersteller VEB Lokomotivbau „Karl Marx“ Potsdam-Babelsberg Railcars Baureihe VT 18.16 / 175 Hersteller VEB Waggonbau Görlitz |
